just 8 work from home essentials

ok so let’s start with a disclaimer: I don’t actually work from home. I can’t! since the pandemic started, I’ve still been working normally as a medical assistant in a doctor’s office. BUT - I do have days where I need to work on content for the blog or for my instagram. so I guess I “create from home.” anywho - let’s just jump into it, yeah?

*hey! this post contains affiliate links. this means if you buy anything I list here using my links, I make a tiny commission. this helps me keep the blog running! thank you so much :)

  1. laptop stand or standing desk

I LOVE my laptop stand. I definitely don’t have the best posture, but it’s something I’ve been actively trying to work on. having a laptop stand (this is the exact one I use) to bring my computer to my eye level has taken the strain off of my neck, that’s for sure. my mom also swears by her standing desk! i’ve used it a few times and MAN OH MAN it’s fantastic!

  2. blue light glasses

between my duties as an MA and as a content creator, i’m staring at a screen all day long. I try to limit it before bed, or switch to a book, but sometimes, the only real break I get from blue light is on my hour+ long to or from work. I have chronic migraine and dry eye, so anything I can do to take the load off of my eyes is a big help! I love these blue light glasses from Quay, but I’m also pretty near sighted, so they aren’t practical for me when I want to watch tv, or if i’m screen mirroring my laptop onto the tv. I just ordered these prescription blue light glasses from Warby Parker, and I can’t wait for them to arrive! my normal glasses are Warbys anyway, so I know I’d love the style and quality.

  3. comfy slippers

i’m sure we’ve all seen those “influencer slippers.” you know, the fuzzy criss-cross ones? some of them run for $100+, and while yes, I’m happy to drop that kind of money on a good pair of sneakers, you won’t catch me in $100 slippers around the house. these dupes from amazon are super cute and way more affordable!

  4. a craft!

you need a break. having something unrelated to my work to do in some down time has been really helpful for my sanity. lately i’ve been trying my hand at needlepoint, drawing in procreate, making beaded bracelets, tie dying everything in sight, and developing some new presets, and lots of other stuff!

  5. a good water bottle

we stan a hydrated wfh situation! It’s been harder for me to stay hydrated lately, with having a mask on for upwards of 8 hours a day. but my hydroflask stays cold ALL day long and the straw lid is easy enough to just slip under my mask instead of taking it all the way off. don’t want to use a water bottle like that in the house? I love using big mason jars with these bamboo lids and glass straws around the house!

  6. plants, plants, and more plants

quarantine has turned me into a bit of a plant mom. I went from barely being able to keep 2 plants alive to suddenly having 14 thriving little plant babes. they keep my space clean, stress free, and they’re also just stupid cute. check out succulents box for some little cuties, and you can go to your local plant nursery for the bigger guys! I use this this terrarium from terrain for my succulents, personally.

  7. an instant pot…and dashpass.

I know our cooking routine got thrown off a little with some schedules changing, but I will say that sheet pan meals and instant pot recipes have made things super easy! (one of my go-to instant pot recipes lately is a sticky rice, shrimp, edamame, and avocado bowl)! and when we’re not in the mood to think about cooking, we turn to DoorDash. I signed up for DashPass, and it’s already paid for itself. and it lets you support local restaurants, too!

  8. loungewear sets

y’all know i’m a sucker for anything cozy. but if you want to feel a little more put together than pj pants and a free t-shirt you scored out of a t-shirt cannon (anyone else? just me? ok) - try a matching set of loungewear. you’re still comfy af, but actually look like you could leave the house. I love this one from lou + grey (sweatshirt | sweatpants).
