answering your wedding FAQs

as best as I can anyway, without giving too much away!

  1. are you still getting a wedding band?

i’ve gotten this a few times since sharing about my nesting band. YES! i’m still getting a wedding band, so I’ll wear all 3. my nesting band is just a decorative band that I love. my wedding band matches my engagement ring, so since we already knew what it’d look like, I was comfortable moving ahead with the nesting ring.

  2. how would you describe the wedding theme?

this question is always tricky for me - because I don’t know how to give people the answer I think they’re necessarily looking for. I don’t think that your wedding colors are a theme. yes, we have colors we’re sticking to, but that isn’t the theme per se. but we also aren’t having a THEMED wedding. there are elements of our personalities in every single detail of the decor, settings, etc. everything is very intentional. the answer I give is “boho ballroom,” which sounds like a major contrast, but our vendor team has been phenomenal at helping us execute this vision. what I hope is that at the end of the night, everyone leaves feeling like that went to a wonderfully magical, very “maya and don” event.

  3. have you picked out your hair and makeup?

not really! I know how i’m wearing my hair in terms of up vs. down, but no real details about it. as for makeup, i’ll probably decide as late as humanly possible.

  4. do you have all of your wedding day attire?

nope. I have my dress and my headwear. i’ll be choosing my shoes soon-ish so we can get the ball rolling on a rather time consuming alteration for my dress!

  5. what was wedding dress shopping like?

it was honestly fun! I took a small group (my mom, my best friend/MOH, and her mom), we split a hummus platter, and then headed to the appointment! I 10000% wasn’t expecting to find my dress that day, but it was truly a “when you know you know,” kind of feeling. all the dress shopping details are linked here. my dress is not at all what I expected to fall in love with, and was the first try-on because I didn’t think I would like it - but I wish I could wear it every single day.

  6. are you having a wedding website?

yep! figured it would make things easier. I wrote about our FAQ page here. our save the dates refer guests to the site for info and hotel booking. when we send the invites, we’ll have online and paper RSVP options.

  7. any tips on how to start planning?

start with your date, guest count, and venue. everything else is much easier to plan after those three, and basically every vendor will ask you about them (obviously the date is the most important for availability)!

  8. are. you having wedding favors?

I genuinely don’t know. the answer changes weekly. we’ll decide eventually!

  9. what has been the most stressful part about planning?

three things: coming up with and sticking to a budget, unsolicited opinions, planning during a pandemic.
