monthly roundup: september 2021

a roundup of my favorite things i've eaten, used, read/watched, and done this month.

this month was all about prepping for fall and the rest of the year! we’re 14 months out from our autumn wedding, so with things starting to be in season, there’s a lot more wedding happenings on our hoizon.

top 3 things I ate this month:

1: the easiest mac + cheese (my recipe linked here)

2: trader joe’s peanut udon noodle salad. so so so so good.

3: not a food, but the iced peach pie chai (with oatmlik, of course) from terrain Is….amazing. PA locals, please go order!

top 5 things I did this month:

1: built a planner! I normally get a calendar or academic year planner, but if I don’t use it daily it just feels like a waste. I purchased an undated one at the start of the year, and while it was great, it still wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. so I finally sat down and decided to just put together my own A5 planner. blank unlined pages to use for a journal, undated daily schedules, weekly meal planner, and daily/weekly cleaning schedule. being able to add and remove lists and pages as my needs change is a huge factor, so i’m glad I finally took the plunge on this! I got all of my inserts from cloth & paper.

2: went to a WEDDING!! as the first of our close friends to get engaged, Don and I don’t get to go to a lot of weddings. add in the pandemic, we definitely haven’t been to a wedding recently. until the first weekend of september, when my beautiful godsister got married. it was just so good to be in the presence of such love, and it definitely hit a little different now that I myself am engaged!

3: rejoined my gym! I was getting into a good workout routine in early 2020, and then the pandemic happened and my gym closed. even though at home workouts and the Peloton have been AMAZING, I love the options that a gym has to offer, and I love knowing i’m doing something great for my body. I did a lot of mat pilates during the pandemic, so it’s been really cool to actually use a reformer and have a different style workout. I also started working with a personal trainer to develop a program that’ll help me with my strength goals!

4: caught up on my health appointments. you know that parks & rec episode where april and andy get like 10983012938 doctor’s appointments done? that was me this month. the pandemic threw a wrench in my annual visits, and i’d kept putting them off after the various offices reopened, but staying on top of your regular appointments/screenings is so important.

5: got my veil! I posted a teaser on my instagram story to see if you thought if I got a veil or a reception dress - and the answer is - VEIL! it’s a hand-made beauty and exactly what I was looking for but struggling to find. I absolutely can’t wait to go pick it up in a few months. for my local pals, I found it at Castle Couture in Manalapan, NJ. highly recommend checking them out, it’s like princess gown heaven.

top 3 shows I watched this month:

1: clickbait (netflix). a wild ride. trust me, every time you THINK you know what’s going on…you don’t.

2: only murders in the building (hulu)

3: squid game (netflix). warning, it’s rather violent/gory, but an interesting concept.
