blogmas 2020: our anniversary scavenger hunt
sort of a follow up to a blogmas post from the other day (how we’re celebrating at home), I wanted to share how Don and I made the most out of our anniversary celebration at home!
for our anniversary, we’d typically travel (likely down to Florida or we’d just drive up to NYC for the day), but with COVID, neither of those things are really possible. instead, we each planned a scavenger hunt around the house!
I loosely themed mine to the 12 days of Christmas, sending him to a clue hidden in a bowl of pears for “ a partridge in a pear tree,” to the yard to find a clue hidden by the [closed] pool for “7 swans a swimming,” and to the fridge to find a clue hidden on some oatmilk for “8 maids a milking.” there was a clue in French as both a callback to our trip to Paris last year, and as a reference to “3 French hens.” you get the idea! so after all the rhymes, translations, tasks, he was led to a crossword that would reveal the location of his present!
his clues for my hunt were a lot more cryptic, sending me on a journey through the house, picking up a cozy blanket along the way, and clues that stumped to the point of requiring google…and several hints from Don himself. same story, final clue led me to my present!
we had a blast coming up with fun little ideas for each other, and we really had a great time making the most of our makeshift celebration. I certainly see it becoming a tradition in the future!
