a quick reflection:

this was a big month of learning + growth for me. while I got better at setting boundaries between myself and others, I often failed to protect them within myself and often spread myself too thin. especially when it came to wedding planning this month, I took on a little too much, and finally hit the breaking point of needing to step back and truly delegate (see #2 in the ‘top 4 things I did this month’ part). definitely working on being better about not overcommitting myself going forward.

top 3 things I ate this month:

1: la colombe x pizzeria vetri lunch. yes, if you follow my instagram, you’ll see that this was quite literally yesterday, but idc, this makes the list for sure. we loved the pizza, I finally had my first espresso martini (big fan now), and ending the meal with tiramisu was a very solid choice.

2: one pan shrimp couscous. we got this from a meal kit in december, and we’ve made it several times at home since. sharing the recipe and the mods we like in this week’s newsletter. you can sign up for it here!

3: my new favorite at home snack platter: blistered shishito peppers (topped with sea salt or everything but the bagel seasoning, some smokehouse almonds, and unexpected cheddar.

top 3 things I did this month:

our engagement anniversary cake

1: nothing. honestly. the best thing I did for myself was having do nothing days. I caught a respiratory infection at the beginning of the month that had me feeling pretty poorly for about a week, and while I was recovering, I truly focused on just being okay. meditated, rested, and just focused on being still. I really needed this reset, and being on winter break for most of the month helped me just focus on myself for a while.

2: secured a wedding planner! after a year of being engaged, and subsequently, a year of planning this wedding, I am tired. I knew we’d need a day-of coordinator anyway, but having someone who can step in right now, communicate, help with design elements, and who I know will be there for me on the big day? a weight has truly been lifted.

3: journaling, but gently? i’ve been really wanting to get back to daily journaling, but i’m absolutely not putting the pressure on myself to do it daily. it’s been really good for me to just do it for fun and not make it feel like a task.

4. celebrated our one year engagement anniversary. now that we’re officially in our wedding year and we have more decisions to make/things to plan, taking a minute to step back and just celebrate our love was such a highlight this month. we had cake and charcuterie for lunch, and then ordered takeout for dinner from the same restaurant we did last year to celebrate.

top 3 shows I watched this month:

1: Abbott Elementary (ABC & hulu). It’s funny + real all at the same time, wonderfully written and acted, and just the kind of good time we need right now. I’m really hoping this sticks around for a looooong time!

2: euphoria (HBO Max). Certainly not a show for everyone. It’s heavy, dark at times (most of the time, really), but it is SO well acted. Aside from the fact that it’s maybe the most un-relatable high school experience (luckily), there’s something there for everyone.

3: craig of the creek (cartoon network & HBO Max). Yes I’m 27, yes I love a good cartoon. Craig of the Creek is ADORABLE. Diverse without the diversity itself being like a character -it’s there, we don’t talk about it, it’s just very, very natural. It’s heartwarming and nostalgic, and just truly something I’ve enjoyed.

top 3 things I wore this month:

1: fp ruby jacket. ICYMI, I shared my favorite free people winter jackets earlier this month (IG reel | blog), and it’s no secret that the ruby jacket is my favorite. so much so that I got it in another color (sweetheart sunrise, shown) this month.

2: mini uggs. a Christmas gift that I’d been thinking about buying for myself for a bit. thanks, Santa.

3: girlfriend collective athleticwear. needed to update my gym clothes a little bit, and i’m really happy with the set i’ve purchase from girlfriend! the ribbed legging and bra are a current favorite.
